"It just feels like they've not listened"
Hannah and Dan McKee's son Ellis, who has autism, has been out of school for 20 months.
With more children with special education needs missing school because their requirements can't be met - Hannah and Dan McKee explain how their son Ellis, who has autism, has been out of school for the past 20 months.
Staffordshire County Council has told us they are continuing to work with families like Ellis' to meet their needs. It says the county has seen a 30 percent increase in the number of children with special educational needs or disabilities, with the number now surpassing 22 thousand. It says government funding has not matched the growing demand.
Nichola Gibson, Executive Headteacher at Ellison Primary Academy, said: 鈥淲e understand the challenges faced by children who have special education needs and their families. Whilst we are unable to comment on individual cases for confidentiality reasons, we can confirm that as an inclusive school we strive to put pupils鈥 best interests at the heart of everything we do. Supporting parents and carers is a vital part of that process.鈥
