One of the world's most advanced polar research ships has docked in Harwich, before heading on an 8,000km (4,970 mile) journey to Antarctica, eventually returning to the UK in July 2025.

The RRS Sir David Attenborough and its researchers began exploring the frozen regions of our planet in 2021, and have been speaking about their work and life on the vessel.
