The Leicester church that鈥檚 over 1000 years old
St Nicholas Church is the oldest place of worship in Leicester.
St Nicholas Church is the oldest place of worship in Leicester and sits next to the great Roman Jewry Wall.
The site that the church is built on has been constantly occupied since the Romans founded Leicester in the 1st century. Parts of the building date back to around 880 AD, and some of the material used in its construction suggest Roman building work.
It鈥檚 also been suggested that an Anglo-Saxon minster on the same site was the cathedral for the Diocese of Leicester.
Ben Jackson has been for a look round.
