Rare racing car restored and ready to roar
A rare early 1950s Grand Prix car has been restored in Cambridgeshire and is set to race again at the Goodwood Revival.
The RA4 Vanguard, which was based on 1930s Auto Union designs, was built by former World War Two aircraft mechanics in New Zealand – where it competed.
The car was purchased in 2021 by Ian Jones from Milton and completely rebuilt by Pace Historics in Weston Colville.
Ian and Gareth Burnett tell Tom Jackson how they have brought it back to life.
