The female engineering pioneer who designed R101
Hilda Lyon was born in Market Weighton in 1896. She went on to become one of the most significant aeronautical designers of her generation, creating the "Lyon shape", to streamline aeroplanes and submarines. It is still in use today. Sally Fairfax discovers her story.
