The Tunstall soldier who sacrificed his life to save island
Sapper George Onions from Tunstall was the only British solider who died during active duty in Alderney. A memorial is held every year in Alderney to remember the soldier who was one of those who made the Channel Island safe for the community to return by clearing land mines laid by the Germans.
