Three fire engines were sent to The Cottage Inn on Black Hall Lane, Fillongley after being called by the live-in owners who were alerted by a fire alarm.

The blaze involved half of the first floor and the roof of the two-storey building, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

A statement on the pub's website, l said it was closed "until further notice" after a fire caused "substantial damage" and it was unable to open or trade.
