Manchester Corinthians: The most dominant football team you've never heard of

A new film is being produced about the Manchester woman's football team who dominated around the world... all while its players were banned from participating in the sport.

Back in the 1950s and 60's, women were banned from playing football in the UK, but that didn't stop some teams from trying, and one team showed the way.

The Manchester Corinthians, who were formed in 1949 and trained on a public park in Didsbury in the north west of England, won a major European trophy in Germany, and played on international tours in front of more than 50,000 people.

"Corinthians: We Were the Champions" is a new film showcasing the pioneering team, and Sportshour's Caroline Barker sat down with director Helen Tither and former player Monica Curran to hear more about why it was important to immortalise these football pioneers.
