Man with crossbow shot dead by police in Rotherhithe
A man armed with a crossbow has been shot dead by police in south London, the Met has said.
Officers responded to a call just before 05:00 GMT to a home in Rotherhithe, Southwark, where he was trying to force his way inside.
It was reported that the man, believed to be aged in his 30s, was threatening to harm residents inside the property.
The Met Police said local officers were threatened before armed police took over.
The force said the man had got inside the home in Bywater Place when he was shot. He was given first aid but died at the scene. Police are trying to contact his family.
