Chris Mason on Rishi Sunak's Big Election Hint
Has a spring date been ruled out and if so why? Analysis from the 成人快手's political editor on what we're to make of the PM's "working assumption".
Rishi Sunak has said the general election is likely to be held in the "second half of this year". Speaking on a visit to a youth centre in Nottinghamshire, the prime minister did not rule out an earlier election but said his "working assumption" was later. It was thought Sunak could call an election in May - but that seems to have been ruled out.
At the start of what's set to be a busy political year, there's already been plenty of speculation about when the general election will take place. Rishi Sunak has now killed a lot of that speculation - for a few months at least.
So, what can we read into this? The 成人快手's Political Editor, Chris Mason, has the answers in this episode of 5 Minutes On.
