Why shoplifting in London is expected to rise this Xmas
Independent retailers say they fear a big spike in shoplifting over the festive and new year period.
The British Independent Retailers Association says it could send some shops under, and it owners feel abandoned by the police. New data from the Met shows less than half of shoplifting reports in London are being attended by the police.
It's led to some shopkeepers taking matters into their own hands to protect they livelihoods.
Jim Connelly has been to meet shopkeepers in East London to see what they have been doing.
