Surviving cancer: I walked the Thames to honour my mum
Steve Weiner's mum died of breast cancer 50 years ago when he was just 10 years old. Then, in 2017 he faced his own cancer battle after being diagnosed with prostate cancer, and received treatment at Guy鈥檚 Cancer Centre.
Now, to mark the 50th anniversary of his mother's death, and to raise money for the hospital that treated him, Steve walked 50km along the River Thames in a single day. He said: 鈥淚t's 50 kilometres, one to mark each year since she passed, and 31 miles, a mile for every year of her life.鈥
Steve has been speaking to 成人快手 Radio London's Eddie Nestor about why he wanted to do the walk, and what it was like to pay tribute to his mum so long after her death.
