The genetic data of half a million people has been released by British scientists at UK Biobank.

It is the biggest ever publication of such information and will be made available to scientists around the world to help them understand diseases and find new treatments.

There are big hopes that the research which follows could transform diagnoses across the world.

Professor Naomi Allen is the chief scientist at the UK Biobank and she told Newshour's Tim Franks more about the research.
