Uber v Black Cabs - will new 'partnership' really work?
"It's gone down like a cup of cold sick", says 成人快手 London's Transport Correspondent Tom Edwards, as Uber opens up its ride-hailing app to black-cab drivers from the new year.
Uber says a "small number" of cab drivers have already signed up, and it's been dubbed a "partnership" with hackney carriage drivers.
But for years the black-cab community has hated Uber. The Licensed Taxi Drivers' Association (LTDA), which represents more than 10,000 members, says it was not consulted ahead of Uber's "unilateral announcement". The LTDA's Steve McNamara says joining Uber would be "sullying" the trade.
So the big question is: Would you book a black cab on the Uber app?
