Grenfell: Why is it taking so long to build a memorial?
Construction of a permanent memorial to those affected by the Grenfell fire could begin in 2026, and may not be completed until 2027, according to a new report.
The Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission said the location, on the current site of the tower, should include a garden, monument, and space for grieving.
It has called on the government to honour a commitment to fund the building and its long-term maintenance.
But bereaved families are frustrated by slow pace of work, which could mean any memorial may not be ready until a decade after the fire, or later.
