Will Australia鈥檚 referendum give Indigenous people a Voice?
It could formally recognise them in the constitution.
A special vote is taking place in Australia this weekend asking people whether Australia's constitution should be changed. The referendum seeks to create a body called the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice, which would allow Australia鈥檚 Indigenous communities to advise the government on issues that impact their lives.
Tiffanie Turnbull, a 成人快手 reporter based in Sydney, explains how the referendum came about, why people are campaigning for and against it, and how it has stoked racism and tension.
