Crooked House pub demolished
A landmark pub in the Black Country has been demolished two days after fire ripped through the building.
The Crooked House in Himley near Dudley, once known as "Britain's wonkiest pub", caught fire on Saturday night.
Staffordshire Police and the fire service are trying to establish the cause.
In the meantime, the mayor of the West Midlands has called for it to be rebuilt "brick by brick".
The demolition of the landmark pub following a fire was "unnecessary and unacceptable", South Staffordshire Council has said.
The council has referred the matter to its legal team with a view to taking enforcement action.
Officers had visited the site and agreed a programme of works with the landowner's representative, the leader of the council explained.
"At no point did the council agree the demolition of the whole structure nor was this deemed necessary."
