The big debate - Gatwick's second runway
Gatwick Airport has formally submitted plans to bring it's emergency runway into routine use.
They say expanding the airport will create 14,000 new jobs for the wider area, including 3,000 at the airport itself. While also generating an extra 拢1bn annually for the local economy. Local campaigners have called the plans "devastating", having previously raised concerns over noise, congestion and air quality.
The announcement was made by Gatwick's CEO, Stewart Wingate, who's been speaking to our political reporter, Jack Fiehn.
We also hear from local residents, Phil Butterworth-Hayes, an air traffic management specialist, Tony Dixon - the former editor of Airliner World Magazine and Jonathan Essex the Leader of the Green group on both Surrey County and Reigate & Banstead Borough Councils.
