'To receive this award is a massive source of pride'
In many ways, Leicester as we know it today was built on manufacturing. From knitting machines to the clothes that they made - and just about everything inbetween - Leicester was a manufacturing powerhouse.
There's no doubt that things have changed, but Leicester is still a place where things get made and in some cases by companies who're leading the way in their own speciality and winning awards whilst they do it, like Blanson Engineering in Leicester who've just recieved a King's Award for Enterprise.
Blanson, which started trading in 1964 and has 55 staff, produces cast acrylic pressure vessels – from tubes for the pharmaceutical industry to domes for mini submarines used in the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ’s 'Blue Planet', and hyperbaric chamber cylinders.
Ben went to find out more from Blanson's Technical Director Guy Richards.
