Space sensor tracking the drivers of climate change saved
A space sensor on the International Space Station that scans the world's forests for the drivers of global warming and biodiversity loss has had its life extended by NASA.
The Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation - or GEDI - sensor, which is roughly the size of a fridge, was due to be destroyed while another project completes its mission. But after an appeal by forest experts, NASA has changed its mind.
Professor Ralph Dubayah of the University of Maryland is the NASA GEDI Principal Investigator and he told Newshour's Julian Marshall more about Gedi's work.
