The US strategy to help end the war in Ukraine
In a speech in Poland, President Biden pledged unwavering support for Ukraine on eve of invasion anniversary
President Biden has stressed that support for Ukraine from the US and allies will not waver, in a defiant speech in Poland delivered in the run- up to the first anniversary of Russia's full- scale invasion. He told a large crowd in Warsaw that, as he put it, President Putin's lust for power and land would fail, painting the struggle as a generational one for freedom. Earlier, Russia's President Vladimir Putin delivered his own speech in his annual state of the nation address. He said the West had enabled Nazi Germany, he claimed, and had turned Ukraine into a neo-Nazi regime that was "anti-Russia". While both leaders provided sharply contrasting views for who is to blame for the bloody, year long conflict, they appeared to agree that the end of the conflict is nowhere in sight.
Bill Taylor served as ambassador to Ukraine under three US presidents, most recently in 2020. He told the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ what he thought the US strategy in Ukraine might be and why he thinks the conflict could end sooner than many have predicted -
