The world climate change summit in Egypt is to hear from heads of state and government looking to galvanise global action to tackle climate change.

The initial high-level segment of the COP27 gathering in Sharm el-Sheikh will be comprised of leaders鈥� speeches 鈥� from major oil producing economies as well as from developing countries worst-hit by the effects of global warming.

Sir Ed Davey is a British politician and Leader of the Liberal Democrats. He is also a former Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change. He told Newsday: 鈥淲hen I was鈥�kick-starting the offshore wind industry, it was quite expensive but the price has come down dramatically鈥�now wind and solar power are far cheaper than oil and gas鈥�that鈥檚 why I get so cross and extremely disappointed when some world leaders鈥�aren鈥檛 doing the right thing and they aren鈥檛 working with the countries鈥�because we have the technology to have a really successful outcome, which both tackles climate change鈥�but also does that in a way that is affordable.鈥�
