Israel elections: What's behind Netanyahu's success?

Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is on course to win a majority in parliament.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, leader of the Likud party, is on the brink of a dramatic comeback.

Partial results show he is on course to win a majority in parliament with the help of the far-right - the ultra-nationalist Religious Zionism party.

This is not the first time he has run the country. He was prime minister for 12 straight years until he was ousted in 2021 by a loose coalition of rivals from across the political spectrum. He is currently standing trial on corruption charges - which he fiercely denies.

So what's behind his political comeback?
