Twitter: Will Musk really charge users $8 a month for a blue tick?

Twitter's new owner, Elon Musk, says he wants to cut down on spam and scam but also to make the company a profitable one - without relying as much on advertising.

To that end - he's said he will charge users eight dollars monthly for the privilege of having the blue tick by their name, which confirms they're a verified user.

It's all adding to the size of the big blue question mark next to Twitter's future direction.

On Monday, one of the world's biggest advertising companies, IPG, advised its clients to stop placing ads on Twitter for a week.

"I think Musk often makes bullish announcements and then in fact acts perhaps a little more cautiously... it's pretty clear he didn't want to buy twitter but has ended up with it anyway."
