Sweden election: The PM resigns - what happens next?
Swedish prime minister, Magdalena Andersson, has resigned as right-wing parties win vote
A coalition of right wing parties have won a small majority in Sweden's parliament, following a general election a few days ago. Prime Minister, Magdalena Andersson has now handed in her resignation, despite her party, the Social Democrats, winning the most seats.
Jimmie Aakesson who leads the nationalist party, the Sweden Democrats, which came second, declared victory and pledged to "put Sweden first". However, he's unlikely to become prime minister. The Moderate Party leader Ulf Kristersson is now expected to form a government. Becky Waterton, of The Local in Malmo, explains the possible coalition outcomes to form the new government and that it is no surprise the Sweden Democrats have done well: "We know which parties are going to be in the bloc either in or supporting the goverment... people are worried that the Sweden Democrats have this neo-Nazi background but it's not come as a surprise."
