Ex-Irish president Mary Robinson on Queen Elizabeth II and Anglo-Irish relations
The former Irish president and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson has spoken to Newshour about Queen Elizabeth II, Anglo-Irish relations, and Charles' environmentalism.
The first woman to hold the Irish presidency praised her fellow former head-of-state for understanding "the symbolism" of then-President Robinson's visit to Buckingham Palace, saying the late monarch played a pivotal role in moving forward diplomatic relations between the UK and the Irish Republic.
President Robinson is a passionate environmentalist and she praised King Charles III for his role in being "a very strong advocate of addressing the climate crisis", saying that in runs "very, very deep in his psyche".
