As a 6.8 magnitude earthquake rocked Sichuan province in China, residents in the regional capital of Chengdu could not evacuate their homes to safety due to a Covid lockdown. Many have been left stranded in largely remote areas after landslides closed off roads. Rescue teams are working to free the roads and are searching for survivors in the rubble of collapsed buildings. Sixty-five people are now known to have died and more than a dozen are still missing.

The 成人快手's Chinese Service editor Howard Zhang reflects on the situation and the feeling of the residents: "Some of the fire exits are blocked... people could not get out of their houses and this is creating quite a bit of anger."
