Residents in the heart of Maldon say they are worried about plans for housing on what they say is the last large green space in the town.

Over the weekend, Essex Housing have been carrying out gas and drainage survey works, to help see if Primrose Meadows, off Mundon Road, is suitable for development.

An Essex Housing spokesperson said: 鈥淕as and drainage surveys are being undertaken at the Mundon Road field. We have written to nearby residents to make them aware.

鈥淭hese surveys will help to inform our future considerations for a potential development at the site, which are in the early stages.

鈥淓ssex Housing will conduct a consultation process with local residents before any planning application is submitted, after which Maldon District Council would consider and reach a decision on such an application.鈥�
