Why I'm going back to Ukraine
Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities has been relentless since the invasion on 24 February. Analysts believe the war could last for months, if not years, and that the violence and destruction will continue. However, there are increasing reports of Ukrainians who left their country at the start of the conflict now deciding to return.聽
Anna Dovgopol left Kyiv when the invasion began and headed to Lithuania to live in a small village. She has now decided to return to Ukraine, to look for work in the humanitarian sector. She says she didn't want to start a new life in a different country, and that she felt compelled to return to her home country and contribute to the war effort there.
