"48-hour wait" for an ambulance

An 89 year old Southend man has had to wait 48 hours for an ambulance to turn up following a fall at home.

Roy Clare was told to wait for an ambulance after hitting his head on Tuesday, after his condition deteriorated.

Then on Thursday, not one ambulance but three turned up in the afternoon.

成人快手 Essex speaks to Southend West MP Anna Firth, who says the situation is intolerable for all.

Mid and South Essex NHS Partnership said in a statement:

鈥淥ur hospitals are experiencing an extremely high demand for their services, with many arriving at A&E by ambulance, reflecting just how busy local NHS and social care providers are.

鈥淲e are all working together to respond to this higher demand for services, so that we can provide the best possible care for our patients.鈥
