Reports in a national newspaper suggest the project could collapse because the government doesn't want to rely on investors from China.
The Sunday Telegraph also quotes the latest financial report from power company EDF which says, "...the risks of not being in a position to carry out the Bradwell project are high and have increased in 2021".
Campaigners are planning to write to dozens of politicians in the next couple of weeks trying to garner opposition to plans for a new nuclear plant in Essex.

A statement from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy says:
鈥淔unding decisions are a matter for CGN, however, we have clearly stated that nuclear energy is a key part of our energy security strategy and will provide the energy required when the sun isn鈥檛 shining and the wind isn鈥檛 blowing.鈥
