My face was stolen by scammers
Cybercriminals are using the war in Ukraine to con people into donating money on fake websites. The 成人快手's disinformation reporter, Hannah Gelbart, tries to track them down.
A 成人快手 investigation has found that cybercriminals have been taking advantage of the outpouring of sympathy for people in Ukraine. Scammers are re-posting emotive footage of the war on TikTok and asking for donations. They're also stealing identities and impersonating charities like UNICEF and the British Red Cross - by setting up fake websites to con people out of money. Staff at the charities are warning donors to stay alert - and if there's any doubt, to check with the charity before donating.
For 5 Minutes On, the 成人快手's disinformation reporter, Hannah Gelbart, follows the cybercriminals' digital paper trail. She speaks to an expert on scam emails - and tracks down Miguel Angel. He's a doctor from Mexico whose photo has been stolen from Facebook and used in a fake appeal to raise money for a children's hospital in Ukraine.
