Protesters "cost Essex Police over £1 million"
Andy Prophet, Deputy Chief Constable of Essex Police, tells ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Essex that his force has spent more than a million pounds dealing with protestors at several Essex oil terminals.
The protestors from Just Stop Oil - plus supporters from other groups such as Insulate Britain and Extinction Rebellion - turned up in the early hours of Friday last week, and more have arrived today.
Chafford Hundred, West Thurrock and the Purfleet Fuels Terminal have had people attaching themselves to fuel tankers with glue and bike locks. The campaign group blocked 10 "critical" sites across the country in total.
A week on, 268 people have now been arrested by Essex Police.
