Scammers repeatedly target Essex home
Alice says her house is being used by scammers on Facebook as a location for fake sales.
Alice from Chelmsford explains how scammers on Facebook have used her address as a location to pick up goods like sofas, which don't actually exist.
Potential customers will agree to collect the item - often handing over a deposit first - but scammers will give a fake address.
In one such instance, Alice's address was the one chosen - she's been telling 成人快手 Essex what happened.
Facebook has not responded to 成人快手 Essex's request for a statement on this story, on Friday, but they have previously told the 成人快手:
鈥淭here鈥檚 no place for fraudulent or inauthentic behaviour on Facebook and we have removed the pages reported to us. We invest in people and technology to remove fraud from our platforms, and we urge people to report any suspicious posts to us. We have donated 拢3 million to Citizens Advice to deliver a UK Scam Action Programme to raise awareness and help victims, and in partnership with the ASA we鈥檝e launched an industry-wide UK Scam Ad Alert system.鈥
Essex Police has told us in a statement:
"We are investigating a number of incidents which have been reported to us where a victim鈥檚 Chelmsford address has been incorrectly given as a pick up point for the sale of items online. We are exploring a number of lines of enquiry and using a variety of tactics to progress our investigation.
"We know incidents such as these cause victims a great deal of distress and we work hard to support them. We also know how important it is for victims to be kept up to date with the crimes they have reported and we endeavour to make contact with victims as regularly as possible.
