Essex mum rescues three Ukrainian children

Jo fears she'll be arrested after bringing three Ukrainian children to the UK illegally.

An Essex mum, who travelled to Poland to rescue three children from the Ukraine, says she fears she鈥檒l be arrested after having no option but to bring them to the UK illegally.

Their Ukrainian parents called Jo Cope from Chelmsford asking her to take their kids to safety in Essex. They know Jo already because she鈥檚 looked after them as part of the Chernobyl Children鈥檚 project, where children stay in Essex to help get some radiation out of their system.

But when she left to collect them from the Polish border 鈥 leaving her own children behind in Essex - the visa rules changed meaning she couldn鈥檛 bring them over as easily.

A 成人快手 Office Spokesperson said:

鈥淲e stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine and the changes we鈥檝e made to the visa process are making it quicker and simpler for Ukrainians to come here, as well as ensuring those already here can stay.

鈥淰alid passport holders no longer have to attend in-person appointments to submit fingerprints or facial verification, and we have also expanded capacity at our Visa Application Centres to 13,000 appointments per week across Europe to help those without their documentation.

鈥淭his week, the Government鈥檚 sponsorship route will open to allow Ukrainians with no family ties to the UK to come here and we will continue to work closely with our Ukrainian partners to deliver the measures we have put in place.鈥
