Around 300 children with special educational needs missed school

Kent County Council admits new contracts to cope with a rise in the number of pupils needing transport to school were not arranged in time for children who were returning after the half term holidays. The problems emerged after a shake-up of travel arrangements for five thousand special educational needs and disabilities children in Kent. The changes were brought in to existing school transport contracts due to a rise in demand but a reduction in the number of drivers.
