Breadline
Although the UK is the seventh richest country in the world, many people struggle to afford food. The number of people who are reliant on food banks and parcels is steadily rising, largely due to cuts and changes to the welfare system. In 2019 a report stated that 8.4 million people in Britain were living in households where adults reported food insecurity. The figures are starting to become so huge that it is hard to see the faces behind the numbers. Breadline aims to address that. Set in a young couple’s kitchen, Breadline uses dance and movement as a new way of shining light on this urgent issue.
