Gus Kenworthy and Marcus Kleveland reveal their Olympic plans

Aimee Fuller connects with Team GB’s Gus Kenworthy about his recent switch from Team USA and snowboarder Marcus Kleveland chats about the tricks that are going to win him gold.

Aimee Fuller brings you the Winter Olympic Mile podcast on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Sounds. With the Beijing winter games edging ever closer, it felt only right that she catches up with some of the athletes who are heading out to represent their nations. As a former professional snowboarder and 2-time winter Olympian, she knows just how it feels, so is buzzing to introduce you to some of TeamGB’s finest, as they prepare for their shot at Olympic gold, as well as some of the biggest international names from around the world.

This time Aimee linked up with two incredible athletes, first Aimee chats with olympic silver medallist Gus Kenworthy who she got to spend the day with for a ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Sport Ski Sunday feature. He explains how the switch from Team USA to follow his mother’s heritage of GB came about, why he decided to come out as gay in the way that he did (front cover of ESPN magazine) and how Tom Daley inspired him - he also lays down what its going to take to bring home the gold medal.

Aimee also links up with Marcus Kleveland a true snowboarding pioneer from Norway. ‘Pioneer’ gets thrown around quite a lot in the freesports world but this guy genuinely was the first to break new tricks and constantly raises the bar of progression… and to come back from injuries and still compete at the very highest level is nothing short of a miracle. Aimee discusses his back garden trampoline set up and his rehabilitation process.

In this podcast series Aimee is going to be taking these athletes for a one mile walk, getting them out and about to chat everything from training plans, food and Olympic goals. Aimee has put together an amazing lineup, there's so many Olympic legends in this series its unbelievable; from medal winning TeamGB legends such as Curling’s Eve Muirhead and Skeleton’s Laura Deas, to international icons such as Marcus Kleveland and Mark McMorris. She’ll also be checking in with olympic debutants such as Matt Weston who competes in skeleton and speed skater Niall Treacy, so many great characters coming your way.

She'll also be dropping in with athletes while they're out in Beijing and remember you can only hear it right here on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Sounds...So come on, stroll with us.
