Covid vaccine: Israel panel recommends fourth dose
In Israel, a government advisory panel has recommended extending a fourth dose of the coronavirus vaccine to all adults. At the moment only people in certain high risk groups and those older than sixty are eligible. If approved, the fourth dose could be given at least five months after the previous one or following recovery from Covid.
Manfred Green, Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Haifa, and a member of the advisory panel, explains that they found antibody levels decline after five or six months after a third vaccine. He says they now think that three vaccines are the basic schedule for the vaccine, and that a fourth dose is actually the booster, with effectiveness likely to last for longer.
