Premature babies: Delayed cord cutting helps reduce death and disability

Delayed cord clamping is when medical staff wait a few minutes before clamping and cutting off the umbilical cord that attaches the baby to its mother. A new study just published in the Lancet Child and Adolescent Health of premature babies has found there was a decreased risk of disability and death in the babies if there was a delay of this for a few minutes.
