Welcome to the Strictly Come Dancing Podcast with your hosts Joe Sugg and Kim Winston!
[00:00:20] KIM: That that was fang-tastic. It. Do you know, I thought of that on about Wednesday. And I actually wrote it down. I was like, oh God, this is so embarrassing. But yeah, I'm going to get it in, but I didn't think I'd get in that early!
[00:00:33] JOE: You know what? That鈥檚 the end of the podcast right there. Thanks for listening everyone. I hope you enjoyed it. Uh, we'll see you next week!
[00:00:39] KIM: An early pun from me and also the earliest scoring 40, there has ever, ever, ever been on Strictly.
[00:00:47] JOE: I can't believe it. I want to know. I think the listeners do too. And this is going to test your knowledge Kim鈥 Who was the previous record?
[00:00:53] KIM: It was him. It was Giovanni. So Giovanni and Debbie McGee were the earliest couple to get 40, and that was in week seven. So he has just beat his own record and got on week six. So, I mean, look, we're going to chat to them later on, but isn't it just mind blowing the ever since he started Strictly Come Dancing, he has been top or joint top of the leaderboard at Halloween.
[00:01:15] JOE: Is there some sort of weird voodoo!
[00:01:17] KIM: Yeah, there's definitely something going on with Pernice and Halloween. I'm not too sure what! An amazing show as always. So sad that we had to say goodbye to Judi and Graziano. It was such a shame, you know, last week she wasn't able to be here, but they went out on an absolute high, and I don't think we'll ever forget that samba!
[00:01:36] JOE: They came back and had their sort of final hurrah. I mean, it's good that they didn't have to stay out of the competition. Um, after Judi catching COVID, it was good that she tested negative and they could at least come back.
[00:01:46] KIM: And also it's the first ever time that there has been a Lycra zombie on strictly.
[00:01:51] JOE: I do you know what, I fear it won't be the last.
[00:01:53] JUDI: I will keep dancing. This has been amazing experience, a life changing experience. My partner, Graziano 鈥 without me crying because I'm not messing up his face. He has supported me, stuck by me, took me to a place that I never thought I could. And for that, I love you so much and thank you!
[00:02:13] KIM: How good was that opening group dance on Saturday?听
[00:02:15] JOE: I loved it, but the thing is Kim, I still don't know who was who. Obviously I know Diane was the queen of Hearts. I know that Neil was Pinocchio. I know that Kai was Voldemort, but I didn't at the time I like to look on Instagram. I didn't, it wasn't until I saw it on social media that I found out that Kai was Voldemort.
[00:02:32] KIM: There was about three different people. I was like, oh, there's Karen. Oh, there's Karen. Oh, there's, it's just, it was a brilliant dance! So clever, well done to Jason for that one.
[00:02:40] JOE: And also the prosthetics team, like the they've had proper prosthetics about, I think that's one of the benefits actually of them prerecording those dances.
[00:02:48] KIM: Jason actually showed me one of the earlier takes and Neil looked totally different. I mean, so scary. So for the actual real record, they had to change his prosthetics about a little bit, just so he wasn't as scary. But that first one, I don't think I'll ever forget that image for as long as I live, it was petrifying.
Right. Let's chat about the dances, hier, makeup, costume, unbelievable AJ鈥檚 dress. I might buy it. I'm not going to fit into it, but I might just buy it just to frame it on my wall.
[00:03:16] JOE: Didn't it have over 8,000 crystals on it?
[00:03:19] KIM: Do you know this right? Cause you've been there. You've done work experience in the costume team, you know exactly what it's like.
It's not like there's a machine that goes, yep. Just stick them all on is actually a person putting them on. You've done it!
[00:03:31] JOE: I've been there! I put on about four or five. So you mentioned 8,000.
That's that takes a while. It does take a while. It takes a steady hand and it takes a long time.
[00:03:39] KIM: Amazing costume and amazing comments Craig said this:
[00:03:42] CRAIG: This particular dance doesn't normally have dynamic. And that's what I absolutely loved about it.
[00:03:49] KIM: The lobster, right? Let's go back to a few years ago.
[00:03:55] JOE: I know what you're going to say!
[00:03:55] KIM: When Scott Mills was in the show, he was a lobster. He danced to 鈥榰nder the sea鈥 and Vicki Gill said 鈥渘ever, ever again, am I doing a lobster..鈥 2021, a lot of funny things have happened, including Dan and Nadiya, the most glamorous lobsters, I think I've ever seen.
[00:04:12] JOE: Yeah! Do you know what I loved when the camera cut to them and they were clapping in the audience
[00:04:17] KIM: How funny was that?
[00:04:18] JOE: Yeah.
[00:04:19] KIM: Like Nadiya looking so glam just like properly clapping. It was hilarious. I loved that.
[00:04:24] JOE: She loved it though. She really got into the role of being a lobster. I think she almost enjoyed it more than Dan did.
[00:04:29] KIM: I love, especially Dan, like, you know, he's watched it at home for years, he loved the show. He was kind of saying this to Claudia:
[00:04:39] DAN: I think when I watched the program at home as well, but there's just a few things I always like to see. I like to see someone enjoying themselves. I like to see someone who is improving. Like the judges said, I like to be someone who understands the privilege it is to be on this programme. I like someone who works hard and that's all we're trying to do and hope that's working for you as well.
[00:04:55] KIM: He doesn't take it for granted. Does he, he loves the show. He knows what it means to everyone watching at home. And if the public want a lobster, that is what Dan is going to deliver.
[00:05:04] JOE: Exactly. Then we had Tilly and Nikita. It was Nikita's favorite dance ever. And do you know what? It was one of my favorites at the night. I think
[00:05:12] KIM: How clever was the choreography. I just, I loved it.
[00:05:15] JOE: Good. It's one of those ones that I know that I'm going to watch back. I mean, I've watched them back all the time anyway, but it's one of those ones where if I want to show someone a good dance on strictly, I will show them one of those ones
[00:05:25] KIM: yeah, because it wasn't just about, you know, the dance moves that was completely, you know, characterization dance. Is that, is that a word? Have I just made that up?
[00:05:33] JOE: I think, yeah, I think it is, it was like, it's one of those ones that you could really, you can't look away because they were really telling a story. It was like, it was almost like watching the opening to a, like a, sitcom
[00:05:44] KIM: yeah.
[00:05:46] JOE: a family of Frankenstein's also, I love the way Nikita says Frankenstein.
[00:05:54] JOE: it's kind of like a Frankenstein because the H in there rather than Stein, I love it. I love it. Now the thing is for the celebs it's very, nerve-wracking obviously at each week. Uh, but also I love how Nikita was saying to Claudia that, you know, he also gets nervous too. And so he should be, it's his first series on this show, but he's doing so well.
[00:06:14] KIM: Yeah, he's doing amazing. Isn't it? It's nice. Like when the judges do give that praise, cause you can tell how much it means to them.
[00:06:20] JOE: Yes
[00:06:21] CRAIG: Nikita, I think do. Brilliant job with the choreography.
[00:06:29] JOE: Okay. Now the big moment, we've all been waiting to talk about Rose and Gio鈥 that tango
[00:06:35] KIM: I don't even know where to start with that dance. I think for me, it was her little shoulder shuffle. It was, as you put in, you know, I've watched that done spike loads now. And every time she does like a little extra movement, I'm like, that is what makes a 40, you know, it's not, you can imagine that they did the dance, they knew the routine kind of midweek.
And then it was about adding in the little extra elements.
[00:06:59] JOE: Yeah. Knowing when to make the certain faces, even at the end, that kind of face at the end, the hand movements. It's tiny little details like that, which you know, Craig's looking at and that's what he wants to get his 10 paddle out for.
And he's finally done it!
[00:07:12] KIM: Week six, like her and earth would have thought on week six, we have this!
So, is that how you can have learned, like, did Diane teach you the dance and then towards the end of the week is when you add in kind of all the extra little elements that kind of really give it that extra finesse.
[00:07:47] JOE: wouldn't say we probably had that many, uh, little elements of finesse for me. Cause I took a lot longer to learn. I feel like, but, uh, Monday was all about just trying to learn the routine.
Like if we could get through Monday having known all the steps, at least like a rough version of the steps, then we were onto a good week. Uh, then Tuesday you start adding the technique in and that's when you start to panic and think, actually this is really hard Now. Wednesday comes by and you're sort of a bit more like, oh, it's a bit make and break kind of day.
And then a Thursday, hopefully. It kicks in. You get all the techniques ready?
[00:08:18] KIM: Do you get a longer lunch break on Thursday.
[00:08:20] JOE: No, I never got along in lunch break.
[00:08:23] KIM: Right.
[00:08:24] JOE: Never
[00:08:24] KIM: I thought that might've been like Monday. Yeah, well done. You did well at the weekend. Hover, you know, longer break Tuesday, Wednesday, quick snack Thursday, three course meal.
[00:08:33] JOE: No, there was only two weeks ever where I was got to go home early. Halloween week, I was allowed to go home a little bit early because I really got on with the Foxtrot and Quickstep week. That was the only two weeks where I got to go home early. Other than that, I was slugging it away. 24 7 in that rehearsal room.
And speaking of Rose and Giovanni, I caught up with them in their dressing room and she was going through her piles of fan letters鈥.
****
[00:08:57] ALAN: From EastEnders, Rose Ayling-Ellis, and her partner, Giovanni
[00:09:01] JOE: How many fan letters do you get each week? Cause I've heard that Rose, you get quite a lot?!
[00:09:07] ROSE: I get loads! From children espically. And I love that they draw me massive and I鈥檓 like in a really glittery dress and really really pretty and Giovanni is like a really small stickman figure with like a square rectangle of jet black hair!
[00:09:24] JOE: like a Minecraft character!
[00:09:26] GIO: Yeah.
[00:09:27] JOE: How many do you get Gio?
[00:09:29] GIOVANNI: Uh鈥.. One last week鈥..
[00:09:29] ROSE: And it wasn鈥檛 even a fan letter!
[00:09:30] JOE: [laughs]
[00:09:34] JOE: And Rose, you've had a lot of support from the deaf community. Um, did you see that even more so after last week's dance, because in last week's dance, you had, sign language in the dance itself.
[00:09:45] ROSE: Yeah. Um, the deaf community has been very supportive of me since day one. But I think they were so excited to see me using sign language last weekend. They thought it was so nice to see their language on primetime TV.
[00:09:58] JOE: Yeah, definitely. And it was great to see you act as well, Giovanni?
[00:10:01] ROSE: And he picked up signing really well!
[00:10:06] GIOVANNI: Obviously, when I had the idea to put some language in a routine, um, I went to Rose and said 鈥淟isten, I want to do this, but obviously you have to teach me properly.鈥 What I have to say and with research we ended up doing it in the dance and I think it鈥檚 nice to incorporate it and make it accessible to everybody. That鈥檚 the reason I wanted to do something like this at the beginning of the dance.
[00:10:28] ROSE: And the nice thing is that they didn鈥檛 add a subtitle to it. It鈥檚 nice to keep it blank so everybody鈥檚 wondering what we鈥檙e saying until much later on. That鈥檚 when the subtitles came on. I feel like that鈥檚 kind of a bit of a message as to what us deaf people feel, when we always get our stuff a bit later.
[00:10:46] JOE: Yes. And this week is a tango. Is it a different role this time? How does it feel to have all the power?
[00:10:51] ROSE: I feel excited about it! I feel like I鈥檓 not going to be me whilest doing tango. Because Rose and tango doesn鈥檛 mix well.
[00:10:59] GIOVANNI: You have to act.
[00:11:01] ROSE: Yeah.
[00:11:02] JOE: yeah, that's what I found as well was brilliant about these kind of weeks. It's like, you can feel it. You really don't have to be yourself. You play as a
[00:11:08] GIOVANNI: You play a character.
[00:11:09] JOE: Yeah. Giovanni last week was the story of Shirley's life. Would you say that this routine is more of the story of Craig's life?
[00:11:18] GIOVANNI: Uh, it's supposed to be evil queen. So it's between Shirley and Motsi really!听
[00:11:24] JOE: Yeah.
[00:11:24] GIOVANNI: Um, it could be Craig as well, actually. 听听
[00:11:28] JOE: And Rose, I've heard you鈥檝e been getting whiplash in training. How's that going?
[00:11:32] ROSE: Yeah! I鈥檝e been getting whiplast because Giovanni has a very special technique where he needs his hips to sort of鈥. Shake my body and then if I鈥檓 not ready. And I鈥檝e not got my neck ready, he鈥檚 literally throwing my neck everywhere! It actually hurts so I have to be ready for it!
And when I do hurt myself, Giovanni is like 鈥榳ell, that鈥檚 your fault! When I tell you to be ready, be ready!鈥
[00:11:55] GIOVANNI: That's the thing, you know, to lead a girl I use a lot of the body, which means she has to react to my action. So if you're not ready, then鈥
[00:12:05] ROSE: Yeah
[00:12:05] JOE: on the night, if you're not ready, it's your fault!
[00:12:07] GIOVANNI: that's your fault! [laughs]
[00:12:08] JOE: Giovanni鈥檚 got a pretty good record for Halloween for the last 听five years. Um, you've been top of the leader board for Halloween. Is that pressure鈥.
[00:12:17] ROSE: I'm not going to think about it! I'm just going to think about doing the tango and that鈥檚 it! And if it does well鈥 great! If it doesn鈥檛鈥 fine! I鈥檒l be alright! I鈥檒l just suffer on Monday! [laughs]
[00:12:30] JOE: That鈥檚 the spirit! Well, thank you so much for chatting to me. Best of luck tonight with your tango. And I cannot wait!
****
[00:13:08] KIM: Right. Joe I鈥檝e got a bit of a question for you. How carefully have you been watching the show?
[00:13:12] JOE: OK
[00:13:12] KIM: Catherine Mark, props extraordinaire. All the team go in on Wednesday. Totally redecorate the set, make it spooky. Spooky Halloween. They took away the huge, huge glitter ball. That's usually there in the middle of the set each week. What did they replace it with?
[00:13:28] JOE: Ah, do you know what I'm feeling very smug right now, because not only do I know the answer to this, and by the way, it's a, like a big chandelier covered in cobwebs, but also I know where the hide, the glitterball, the big one, they replace it with.
[00:13:42] KIM: Whoa. I don't even know this, Smug Sug.
[00:13:45] JOE: There you go Smug Sugg! Behind Claudia鈥檚 area there's a staircase that goes up and around that kind of area. This giant glitter ball. Just, just sat there. They just put it down there. That's where it is.
[00:13:55] KIM: That is amazing knowledge. Well, luckily we're about to hear some more, cause you went Trick-or-trivia-ing down the corridor!
****
Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice:
[00:14:13] JOE: It's trick or trivia time. Last time you performed in Halloween week, you and Michelle visage were top of the leaderboard Giovanni. When you performed the Adams family. Now I've heard you've got an incredible singing voice, please. Can you sing the chorus for us.
[00:14:27] GIOVANNI: I don't know the words and it鈥檚 an annoying song that I hated so much all week!
[00:14:44] JOE: Not the right answer. That means that you've got to give me your best Halloween joke. And if I laugh at it, then I'll never speak to you ever again.
[00:14:56] GIOVANNI: Which room does a ghost not need?
[00:15:00] JOE: I don't know which room does a ghost not need?
[00:15:01] GIOVANNI: A Livingroom!
Adam Peaty and Katya Jones:
[00:15:07] JOE: Series15 - Halloween week, which dance and song did you and Joe McFadden dance to? an extra sweet for the score!
[00:15:24] KATYA: Trouble 鈥 Foxtrot 鈥 Score of 32!
[00:15:27] JOE: Oh, my word. You've aced it.
AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington:
[00:15:35] JOE: In series 12, which celeb was painted green for Halloween and flew up at the end of her dance on a broomstick?
[00:15:42] KAI: going to go with, was it Frankie bridge?
[00:15:45] JOE: Yes, it was, it was
[00:15:49] JOE: for an extra treat. What was the song? 听
[00:15:53] KAI: wicked - defying gravity.
[00:15:55] JOE: Yeah. You know, your stuff. The Strictly boffin over there.
[00:15:58] KAI: Oh yeah!
听
Dan Walker and Nadiya Bychkova
[00:16:01] JOE: How many boxes of cobwebs are used to decorate the set?
[00:16:09] DAN: quite a lot. 20?
[00:16:15] JOE: 20. You were close, but not close enough is 30. 听
[00:16:27] DAN: We learn so much from you, Joe.
[00:16:29] JOE: But you did get it wrong, which means you have to do a trick, which means you got to tell me your best joke.
[00:16:33] DAN: It鈥檚 not a Halloween one but as we鈥檙e lobsters this week鈥 a lobster walks into a bar and the barman say鈥檚 鈥業鈥檓 not serving you!鈥 The Lobster鈥檚 like 鈥榃hy Not鈥 and the barman says 鈥榊ou come round here giving it all this鈥. [Dan makes lobster claws]
[00:16:54] JOE: Oh, do you know what I have laughed? I'm annoyed that I've laughed, but I think it's because Nadiya finds out joke way too funny.
Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu:
[00:17:07] JOE: Which series did strictly first start doing a Halloween theme?
[00:17:16] RHYS: Oh, you said this on a podcast before I heard this.
[00:17:20] JOE: We鈥檙e now in series 19,
[00:17:23] RHYS: I want to say something like series eight
[00:17:25] JOE: Are you looking at in?
[00:17:26] RHYS: Yeah.
[00:17:28] JOE: It is! Correct!
[00:17:32] RHYS: Oh my gosh. That was like a scene from Slumdog Millionaire. Cause I just remember like listening to it when I was making breakfast and I went 鈥榦h! I'm so happy.
****
[00:17:48] KIM: Can we discuss your outfit, that we saw on the results showed link. Please explain. Well, on earth that was.
[00:17:55] JOE: I was supposed to be cousin it right from the Adams Family. Um, but it turned up and it was, it looks more like, like thatching straw, which in a way, you know, fits perfectly. So I was like a cousin, it / scarecrow. Like I've seen like pictures on the internet of them comparing me to like, just bundles of straw.
[00:18:14] KIM: It was so funny. It was amazing. I'll tell you, Vicki Gil wouldn't have let you on set like that, but it was amazing.
[00:18:20] JOE: It was missing a few stones.
[00:18:22] KIM: It was so fun. I loved it. Last week, you spoke to Tess, we basically pass the power over to you guys to ask the questions. So we did that this week with Lisa Armstrong, who is basically in charge of all the makeup looks on the show and yeah, she's a genius:
****
KIM: I'm actually slightly nervous for you. I remember for many years just meeting you in the corridor at the end of a Halloween Show and that just kind of release that it was finished. This is a start of the day nothing's even happened. How are you?
[00:18:51] LISA: It鈥檚 the start of the day. And literally, I, I can't feel my legs already. It's just like, you know, there's so much going on. It's such a busy show. I've literally being prepping it for like about a week and a half. Cause obviously we don't know the exact concepts until like the week before. And we obviously, we don't know who's going to go home the week before, so yeah. Everything pulled in together and then sending it all out to the team and just praying and keeping your fingers crossed. It works.
[00:19:16] KIM: Well, you're in the hair and makeup room. I've never seen so many wigs, so much paint in my entire life. Let's get going. Cause we've been asking people to send in questions and there were so many, this is like the favourite topic for people. Izzy wants to know how you even start planning makeup looks for the week?
[00:19:33] LISA: Well, it all comes down to, I'm receiving the concept of actual dance and, um, the style of the dance. And then we get the brief, um, staging notes. And then obviously we get the costume later on, which are always incredible and Vicki and her team do such a great job. And then from there, we start planning on what character they're being.
Well ideas we've got, and then we sort of all pulled together with her makeup and then start ordering stuff and designing stuff, and then sending out the images to the team. So it's a big process.
[00:20:00] KIM: Do you work quite closely with the costume team as well to make sure all kind of works together?
[00:20:04] LISA: Yeah, exactly that. So we need to know exactly what costume they wear. And so we know that it's going to all work together and all tie in and marry together. So we're not, you know, ruining something that's a massive design say on the back of the dress with the hair down. So we then work out that the hair will go up so you can see the detail on the back of the dress. For example.
[00:20:21] KIM: There's so much to think about isn't there.
[00:20:24] LISA: There is. And that's why I don't think people really realize, I think we just, you know, turn up and do the day, but also because we're a live show, it has to be bang on, but we get everybody ready for the dress run. Um, so we can see it all. So then it's the first time we see all of those different elements come together with the staging, the lighting, the hair, the makeup, the costume.
That's the first time we really see it in the flesh. After that, we then do our tweaks and, and change little bits if needed.
[00:20:50] KIM: Jessica wants to know how fun is it being a makeup artist, especially in Halloween?
[00:20:55] LISA: Love it. Like this literally is like the biggest date for us in the, uh, Strictly calendar. Really, um, so much fun you can get to be so creative and just like, it's all like, like dress up, isn't it. And it's so great actually knowing what you've designed and the concepts and the looks for everyone. But then when they walk out of the makeup room, sometimes it's really like, oh my God, that's such a body because you don't recognize them because they look so different.
[00:21:19] KIM: I remember Frankie bridge.
[00:21:20] LISA: Alphaba.
[00:21:21] KIM: Alphaba. And no one knew who she was. Everyone was like, oh, hi. Like, or it looks amazing because she had the long hair and green. And that is how amazing the detail is incredible.
[00:21:30] LISA: exactly. And that's what I love as well. Like that's when you get your goosebump moment.
[00:21:33] KIM: Okay. I've got to ask is it's not come from me. It's come from Angelina, but have there ever been any Strictly makeup disasters?
[00:21:40] LISA: Not really any massive disasters. I remember one Halloween, one of the boys was wearing a lipstick. He was dressed up as a joker. And just before we went to go live, he started going around kissing everyone to say, good luck, obviously forgetting he had a red lipstick on. I was like, stop kissing everyone!
[00:21:59] KIM: And is there a look tonight that you're kind of most excited about?
[00:22:02] LISA: I think you're in for a real treat. I'm think there's lots of really brilliant looks. So there is some green going on today. There is some added on bits, so yeah, you just have to wait and see.
[00:22:14] KIM: Right. Lisa it鈥檚 11:00 AM. This is your eight hour countdown. Good luck. Loads of love to all the team. And I cannot wait to see what you produce.
[00:22:21] LISA: Oh, thank you. Bye.
****
[00:22:23] JOE: When I did Halloween, I remember I had like the hair done. I had the makeup on, I had fangs at the end, had to put in. Uh, but I also had, I think I had one, eye contact in. I've got tiny little lies, so it's really hard to get contact lenses in. I'm not a contact lens wearer. So I think it got to the point where we're like, we managed to get one in second one was just not going in my eyeball.
[00:22:48] JOE: a way? Yeah. Yeah. They're like, do you know what one is fine!
[00:22:52] KIM: did you see Katya has contact lenses? She had, oh my goodness. They were so scary.
[00:22:57] JOE: I remember my year Shirley had contacted. Cause I remember we finished our dance and show it. He goes, Joe, come here. I'm not gonna do the voice. And she goes, she likes, sort of gave me a hug and she said, I've got a feeling we're going to see you in Blackpool.
And she was just staring at me with those contact lens eyes.
[00:23:13] KIM: was probably more scared stating at you with one contact lens in.
[00:23:17] JOE: I was mesmerized.
[00:23:19] KIM: Yeah, I think all the looks were incredible. I thought Katya鈥檚, especially I loved when she came out of the piano and just her look, like Katya, she looks so petrifing. Doesn't she, when she was just like in character, absolutely going for it.
[00:23:34] JOE: I mean, I'm not a keen pianist anyway. Uh, but I won't be playing a piano anytime soon. If, if cat is going to jump out, looking like that.
[00:23:41] KIM: Oh, it was sad. It just wasn't the night that kind of, they wanted Adam and Katya. They, they did a brilliant performance, but, you know, luckily they had a bit of fun earlier on in the day with you.
[00:23:50] JOE: yeah, they did. They, uh, they took on the J word
[00:23:55] ALAN VO: Adam peaty, and his partner Katya Jones
[00:23:59] JOE: Adam and Katya Welcome to the J word.
[00:24:02] KATYA: What is the J Word?
[00:24:03] JOE: I'm glad you asked the J word is my quiz. We managed to get it past pilot. Is, it works just about, it's a quiz that looks back through your whole journey so far, you know, like how, like Katya would have said to you forget that dance. You don't have to ever do it again. Well, this throws a spanner in the works, because we're going to ask you questions based on all your previous dances.
[00:24:22] KATYA: Yeah. Well, I'm more nervous. Cause the other day we did our cha-cha-cha from week one and here
[00:24:27] ADAM: She forgot pretty much off the routine.
[00:24:29] JOE: Well, my money's on Adam. Adam name the three technical terms you have learned from the Viennese waltz:
[00:24:37] ADAM: naturals, box, fleckle
[00:24:40] JOE: Look at that. That's a nice, easy start. Katya, name three swimming terms you have learned from Adam since September
[00:24:54] KATYA: Kick, pull and a streamline
[00:24:56] JOE: Yes!
[00:25:00] JOE: Adam, last week you were channelling Alja啪, who also danced the Samba to Faith with Abbey Clancy back in 2013, what score did they get?
[00:25:16] ADAM: Uh
[00:25:19] KATYA: 33
[00:25:20] JOE: you were close. It was 39. 听
[00:25:33] KATYA: I couldn't believe
[00:25:34] JOE: Katya week one. What term did Anton say was 鈥楬ard enough with the hand let alone the foot?鈥
[00:25:52] KATYA: was the pot stir. 听
[00:25:56] JOE: It was. Following on from that Adam question for you. Describe what is a pot stir?
[00:26:00] KATYA: when you stir the pot with your hand or foot.
[00:26:04] JOE: I鈥檒l except that. Katya - week two, you danced a quick step on an underground train. What graffiti was written on the carriage you were sitting on?
[00:26:12] KATYA: Are you going to be my girl?
[00:26:13] JOE: Yes, there we go Adam, who was the first couple, this year to dance an Argentine tango. And what did they score?
[00:26:28] ADAM: this year? It was us. So 32.
[00:26:34] JOE: well-remembered, uh, Katya Kim tells me you're a mathematical genius. Uh, can you tell me your combined total scores from week one to week five?
[00:26:46] KATYA: 130.
听[00:27:07] JOE: Ding, ding, ding. Yeah. 听Adam what do you think you should have got?
[00:27:23] KATYA: I'd say 142.
[00:27:24] JOE: Okay, there we go. Yeah. Katya, you met Adam's Nan Mavis last week.
[00:27:43] JOE: But how did Mavis describe his dancing?
[00:27:47] KATYA: It was Samba week when she came in to watch. So when we went to demonstrate a little bit of our routine, it was Monday. So the only bit he knew is the hip gyration bit, basically. So his poor Nan鈥.
[00:27:59] ADAM: She said let's do a whole dance for Nan with your hip shaking. No one on this planet has danced like that in front of their nan. So for me鈥.
[00:28:07] JOE: I've got written down here. She said 鈥渋t鈥檚 a lot better than I thought it would be.鈥
[00:28:16] JOE: And now over to Alan with your Score!
ALAN: Eight 鈥 well done!
JOE: Really good!
[00:28:23] KATYA: I really enjoyed the J Word. What鈥檚 the theme tune?听
JOE: [Does an impression of Anton] Duh-duh-duh the J word me old sausage!
****
[00:28:33] KIM: Do you know what Anton is going to be listening to that and
he's going to be slightly confused but I absolutely loved it. So thank you.
[00:28:42] JOE: Uh, sorry.
[00:28:43] KIM: Next week, let's go for Craig right?
[00:28:44] JOE: as you know, in the dance profession, you don't just get it like that. It takes me a while, but I will get it. I will get it my old sausage!
[00:28:52] KIM: Can you believe that we're over halfway through the competition? Isn't that nuts?
[00:28:59] JOE: I remember I said this last year as well. Every year, it's a shock.
[00:29:03] KIM: I never just flies in.
[00:29:04] JOE: No excuses. You can't be rubbish anymore. I don't want to see anyone getting lower than a seven from now on.
[00:29:10] KIM: That is harsh. The clocks have changed and Smugg Suggs, gone harsh.
[00:29:15] JOE: I'm already trying to become like Craig for the impression.
[00:29:19] KIM: Right. It takes twos on this Monday with Jeanette and Ryan on Monday, they will sadly be chatting to Judy and Graziano.
[00:29:45] JOE: And in the meantime鈥.
[00:29:47] KIM AND JOE: Keep listening!
