‘The only incurable thing is the desire to live’
Former gymnast Desirée Vila lost her leg doing an acrobatic trampoline jump. She broke two bones, and by the time the doctors realised her leg artery had a clot, and there was no blooding running through her leg – it was too late.
Now, she is on her way to Tokyo Paralympics 2020 and tells her inspiring story of resilience - how she struggled with her body image and how she went from being scared of walking with shorts to proudly show her prosthesis on the street. The long jump Paralympian overcame all the challenges that come with a new life, and she now uses her social media platforms as a voice, to help other people with disabilities.
