Cuban born American Ileana Rodriguez was nominated Chef de Mission for the first-ever refugee Paralympic team. She describes the challenges they face trying to support the team and how ‘for refugees, it’s even harder' to find places to train for the Games.
She hopes the six qualified athletes will give a voice to people with disabilities that are in the same situation around the world, spreading the message of hope through sports.
