The inequalities in distribution and price of the Covid-19 vaccine
Covax, the long-awaited global vaccine sharing initiative aimed at making access more equitable, has just made its first delivery to Africa, but the inequalities in the numbers of vaccines being made available to low-income countries compared with richer nations is stark, when the availability and the price of the vaccines can prove to be a problem.
Dr Krishna Udayakumar, Associate Director for Innovation at Duke University鈥檚 Global Health Innovation Center, has been tracking data around vaccine distribution.
"High income countries, who make up 16% of the population of the world, have bought up 60% of the vaccines."
