Ali Pervez Mehdi
Ali was trained by his father and grandfather in classical music and he started performing at the age of 16. Since then he has toured the world as a singer, composer and lyricist.
Having performed with legendary composers like AR Rehman and Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ali also boasts having performed alongside some of South-Asia's biggest names including Hari Haran, Chitra, Atif Aslam, Rekha Bhardwaj and Daler Mehndi.
He first appeared on Pakistan's biggest music show, Coke Studio, in season 5, when Atif Aslam performed Dholna, a song Ali had written and composed.
This season he makes his lead debut in The Studio with this up-tempo folk track called Gal Sunn which also features vocals by Meesha Shafi.
He spoke to Talat-Farooq Awan about how he felt going back to Coke Studio.
