Umair is part of a creative family and is the brother of fellow-singers Yasir and Uzair Jaswal. His rock band Qayaas was discovered by Coke studio in 2012 and was included as part of the line up for season 5.

Umair is the only artist to appear on eight out of thirteen seasons of Pakistan's Coke Studio music show making him the most featured artist in the shows history. His latest outing in Coke Studio 2020 sees him teaming up with Sanam Marvi for "Har Fun Maula"

Umair first told Talat-Farooq Awan on the Indus show how the Himalayas inspired him to get into mountaineering before music beckoned.
