An anti-fraud taskforce in California says tens of thousands of prisoners have defrauded the authorities of up to a billion dollars in pandemic employment relief. Also, French President Emmanuel Macron has announced a slight easing of the country's second coronavirus lockdown which will see shops re-open from Saturday. And the Australian Open tennis tournament is likely be delayed as talks continue over staging the tournament in Melbourne, which has only recently emerged from months of lockdown.
