‘How I lost my sense of touch’
50 years ago, Ian Waterman lost his sense of touch after he caught a viral infection. It triggered an auto-immune attack on most of the nerve fibres carrying tactile information from his skin and his muscles. Now, if someone touches Ian below the neck he feels nothing.
