How significant is California's latest boost for boardroom diversity?

America's richest and most populous state already mandates public companies to have at least one female director. Now, California has passed a new law to force bigger firms to employ more directors from under-represented backgrounds: either from a non-white racial or ethnic group, or who self-identify as LGBTQ+.
