South Africa's Covid-19 spending is 'frightening'
South Africa's auditor general has described the spending of the government's Covid-19 relief fund as "frightening".
The government allocated 500 billion rand - around 26 billion dollars at the time - to the pandemic response, which is equivalent to 10% of the country's GDP.
But Kimi Makwetu said that in some departments, proper processes were not followed and that much of the money remained unspent.
